That last week......

That last week before the temple closed for renovations was one crazy week.  I think we broke all records for the Johannesburg Temple.  In addition to the regular...."we need to go to the temple before it closes for a month" group we started the week with two big groups.  They came on Tuesday and then stayed for most of the week.  One group came by bus...40 hours one way.  (And we were exhausted by our 20 hour plane trip!)  One of the groups was from the DRC and the other was from Mozambique.  DRC= French speaking.  Mozambique=Portuguese speaking.  To accommodate them we started at 8 AM and went all day til 9 PM.  There are a few of us who can help with the French but we have no Portuguese workers at the temple which makes it interesting!

This is a picture of one of the groups that came on Tuesday.

I wrote and asked a fellow worker what the numbers were for the week.  This is what she wrote back:
"There were 750 endowments that week.  39 Own Endowments on Tuesday alone. (and there were, count them, 12 nervous breakdowns!)"  (There are 12 temple missionaries.)

What a blessing to help with this work.  It was a good week.  We all felt a good tired!

  1. An accomplishment! You were able to help with the French at least, but having to think so hard must have tired you out.. well, good sleep after that, I'm sure.
